Audrey had never met her cousins and its been much more years that Amoli had met her sister and brother-in-law. It was much due and we deciced to visit them and have a magical Christmas in New York : A Family Reunion to Remember.
As we stepped off the plane, Audrey’s eyes sparkled with excitement. This was her first trip to the USA, and she couldn’t wait to meet her cousins Kevin and Grace, and explore the city that never sleeps. We had planned a special family reunion in New Jersey, where Asha, Amoli’s sister, lived with her husband Praveen and their kids.
The next few days were a whirlwind of activity as we settled into our new surroundings. The kids quickly bonded over games, movies, and laughter, while the adults reminisced about old times and made new memories. It was a big family reunion, and everyone was thrilled to be together again.
One bright day, we decided to take the train and subway to New York City. Our first stop was the 9/11 Memorial, a poignant reminder of the city’s resilience and strength. From there, we walked to the iconic Wall Street Bull, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling financial district.
Next, we strolled across the Brooklyn Bridge, marveling at the stunning views of the Manhattan skyline. Finally, we ended up at Grand Central Station and took in the hustle and bustle of the famous terminal.
As we explored the city, we couldn’t help but notice the festive atmosphere. Christmas lights twinkled everywhere, and the sound of carolers filled the air. We felt like we were in a scene from a Hollywood movie, or an episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. The magic of New York City during the holiday season is truly unforgettable.
The next day, we set our sights on the Statue of Liberty. We drove from New Jersey and took a ferry to Liberty Island, stopping at Ellis Island along the way.
As we approached the statue, we were struck by its sheer size and grandeur. It’s a truly awe-inspiring sight, and one that left us all feeling proud and grateful for the freedoms we enjoy.
Over the next few days, we relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company. We visited the local library, went shopping, and took long walks through the neighborhood parks. The kids had a blast playing together, and the adults enjoyed some much-needed downtime.
But we weren’t done yet! One chilly December evening, we braved the cold and headed to the Top of the Rock viewing platform. The night view of the city was breathtaking, with skyscrapers stretching out as far as the eye could see.
Afterward, we visited Rockefeller Center to see the famous Christmas tree, and then ended up in Times Square, where the energy was electric.
On Christmas, we attended church services and celebrated our first Christmas together . The kids played outside in the snow, while the adults enjoyed some hot drinks and reflected on the past year. It was a truly special day, one that we would always treasure.
The next day, we drove to Hershey’s Chocolate Factory, where we learned all about the history of the famous chocolate company. The kids (and adults!) were in heaven, sampling all sorts of delicious treats and souvenirs.
As our trip came to an end, it was hard to say goodbye. Audrey was tearful, hugging her cousins tightly and promising to stay in touch. But we knew that this trip had been more than just a vacation – it had been a chance to build memories that would last a lifetime.
