In this ultimate Kremlin guide we will look at tips on Reaching Kremlin(Read more), Tickets and Exploring Kremlin. This can be quite confusing for the sheer size of this magnificent fortress and also for the way it’s organised into different sections and hence different tickets.

Buying Tickets for Kremlin is quite tricky. Once booked online tickets are available 15 days prior to the visit date. In your email, you will receive a link to download a voucher, which can be exchanged 45 minutes in advance of the time of your visit at ticket booths number 9, 10, 11, and 12 (open from 9:30AM to 4:30PM). Tickets for the architectural complex of the Cathedral Square and Armoury chamber can be bought online, but tickets for the Diamond fund are very limited and can be taken inside the Armoury chamber itself.
Tickets for the architectural complex of the Cathedral Square allows you to visit all of the cathedrals and the museums within the Kremlin (except Ivan the Great’s Bell Tower). In order to visit Ivan the Great’s Bell Tower and its museum you must buy a ticket which costs 250 roubles (they cannot be purchased online, only at the ticket booths). We did not visit the bell tower, though the bell is in the Cathedral square itself and worth visiting.
Also, the tickets to the Armoury Chamber itself are time bound (10 12, 14:30 and 16:30), so you would need to select an appropriate slot. We booked the 12pm slot so if you arrive on time and enter the Kremlin around 10AM then you have 2 hours to visit the Cathedral square area –which is very much sufficient.
Once inside the Armoury chamber there is a counter for the diamond fund – entry here is very much rationed. We were lucky to get in and definitely worth the visit to see the extravaganza of the Russian riches.
Once inside the kremlin use the map below to navigate it–
In the map above –
- You enter the Kremlin from Kutafiya Tower(16) and walk up to the Trinity tower(17)
- Right away as we enter we see the state Kremlin palace(11) on the right – No entry here
- Walk straight and take a right to reach the Cathedral square – where you can see the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael(4),Annunciation Cathedral(3), Assumption Cathedral(2),Tsar bell(7)
- Walk slight right from Annunciation Cathedral and take a right and walk down to reach the Armoury chamber(1) – crossing Grand kremlin palace to your right(13)
- You can also visit the Secret gardens (36) if time permits.
