- Turkey – Not complete without Belly Dancing
Traveling tends to magnify all human emotions.Peter Hoeg
No trip to Turkey can be complete without a bout of its traditional cultural shows — read that as Turkish Belly dancing.
Had booked an awesome night out with dinner and cultural shows. More importantly to watch Didem – one of the most famous Belly Dancers in the world and a YouTube sensation.
The company picked us up from the hotel and drove many of us to a posh restaurant in central Istanbul which hosted the night. Everyone was assigned a table with a personal touch of the Turkish flag and your native country’s flag on the table.
The show began with few cultural shows and folklore dancing including “Asuk Masuk”, a fantastically odd and funny regional dance from southern Turkey, enacted by two men wearing costumes and using their bellies as faces. It depicts a boy chasing a girl, after her heart, while she plays hard to get.
Then the belly dancers kicked in – each with their unique way of dancing.
The highlight of the show however was Didem(Read more) towards the end. An absolute Diva and her moves were simply scintillating.
They got the viewers engaged and called few of us on stage as well. A dream come true! Amoli was a surprise package – belting away some Indian Thumkas
