Visit Serengeti – The Cheetahs of Serengeti
After a brilliant first day at Serengeti (Read more), the hopes were all high. We had an excellent overnight stay in the bush in a tented camp. It’s a surreal experience staying in the wilderness knowing that there are wild animals roaming somewhere close by in the darkness and in the middle of the night you hear all sort of footsteps and animal noises next to your tent. The heard did skip a beat for sure.
We were up early to a pleasant morning with a lot of mist and Giraffes in the distance. The chef had cooked an excellent breakfast and after a quick shower in the “Talking Shower” we were on our way to another exciting day.
Honestly words don’t do much justice to the beauty of this place. So will keep this Blog to more pictures and less words – hoping this leaves you speechless as me.
The morning started bright as we saw Hippo’s relaxing in the pool to beat the morning sun, more of prides of Lion sulking on rocks and trees, Wildebeests running across the Serengeti on way of their famous migration down south, Zebras grazing away, Giraffes rubbing necks, One off Topi on its way somewhere, Impalas keeping a close eyes for predators and a lot of awesome birds.
However, I was always on the lookout for the most elusive cat – The Cheetah. These shy cats are really hard to spot and have always given me a run for my money during similar Safari trips in India. I had never seen one in the wild till date. As we made from one Simba stone to the next – Our guide spotted few Impalas stand up, and take notice of something moving through the tall grass. With a pointed Tail and ears it was clear that it was some predator on the move – could this be one more lion on the prowl. No it wasn’t – using our binoculars in the distance we saw “spots” and it was right away clear to me – It’s the Cheetah! and so it was. And guess what, it wasn’t alone it had company, a pair of Cheetahs. Absolutely mesmerised – dumbstruck. However, they were still at a distance – so it was a patience game and knowing these shy animals, I wasn’t sure if they would come near the Jeeps.
However, today was our lucky day, both the brothers walked straight towards our Jeep and crossed in front of us to drink water in the puddle right next to our Jeep. An absolutely stunning experience with a magnificent animal – a True Slender Fast Mean machine. A true dream come true to see this beauty up close.

The second highlight of the day was the herd of Elephants and this time I got to see a real African Bull and also a rare experience to see Elephants mating.
Dark clouds hovered overhead and a storm was fast approaching. It changed the landscape dramatically, golden grass with dark clouds overhead – a great natural contrast for some great pictures. And then it started to pour – a torrential downpour while we made our way slowly back tour bush camp.
This was an amazing second day at the Serengeti. Have a look at few other captures –
Relaxed back at our Bush camp overnight, reflecting on the day and seeing through the pictures as we have a cold beer with shiny green eyes gazing at us from a distance.
