Let’s wander where the wifi is weakUnknown
The excitement was kicking in as we left Buenos Aires and head to the southernmost city in the world – Ushuaia. As we landed in Ushuaia we were awestruck at the beauty of this place- simply breath-taking. We quickly checked into our place and head out to explore this beauty of a place.
We were lucky to be having a carrefour right next door – which was handy with picking all the essentials. Ushuaia is a busy port and adventure hub which lies below the Martial range in the Andes with cruises leaving for the Antarctic. The town is beautifully nestled between the snow-capped peaks and the ocean. We took a leisurely stroll on the shores – being at the southernmost city meant it was cold and windy – so pack up well.

The next day we were out early exploring the Tierra Del Fuego National Park – a unique combination of sea, valleys, and mountains. Our first stop was on the End of the world train – exploring the path the prisoners travelled many years ago. The train journey is the best means to discover the beauty of Southern Patagonia.The steam train ride on a chilly morning midst the amazing landscape was a picture-perfect moment. The ride lasts 1 hour with a pitstop at a waterfall.
Post the train ride we head towards Bahia Lapatia with the famous end of the world sign – marking the end of Pan American route – end of Route 3. The panoramic views over the beagle channel were simply breath-taking.
We then head towards the Roca Lake to stretch our legs. While in Italy it was doors and now Addy’s newfound passion was throwing stones in water. Every place which had water (and they were abundant) – Addy wouldn’t want to leave – she would just stand and keep throwing stones in the water
The last point of our tour was the Unidad Postal Del Fin Mundo – the southernmost post office in the world. We were told the owner was sitting out stamping the tourist passports and I was keen to take back this souvenir – however by the time we reached he had left. However, the beauty of this location made up for what we lost.
We head back towards the town driving back through the lush forests and rivers with people fly fishing for Salmon this time around. As this was a half day tour and as the Sun was out and shining – we wanted to do the most of it and hike Laguna Esmeralda.
