No trip to the wild is complete without seeing the No trip to the wild is complete without seeing the most majestic and powerful felines - The Lion.

While we were confident to see a whole load of lions at Kruger, this wasn't to come true. We ended up seeing Cheetahs and Leopards but Lions seem to elude us.

And this changed when we reached Skukuza and then the floodgates opened. We had great sightings of the Lions walking on the road, sleeping on the road at night, relaxing on the cold morning sand at lower bridge crossing and more. 🦁

While Leopards are timid and shy felines, we were While Leopards are timid and shy felines, we were blessed with sighting 5 of these cats. At one point we were worried why aren't we seeing the more common cat - The lion and instead seeing more leopards 😂

One encounter was so up close, it really sent shivers down our spine. After seeing the cat come out of the bushes, cross the road behind our car and seemingly disappear into the bushes, many of the other safari vehicles just left as the bushes were quite thick for any further spotting. However my instinct said let's wait it out, so parked right next to the path where the leopard disappeared , lowered the windows and peered out. The next moment I hear a shriek from Li, "It's here, It's here!!" - right below the window, in the thick grass I saw 2 cold eyes gazing at you. Absolute shivers down the spine!! The leopard hadn't disappeared into the bushes , it had just crossed the road and lies down in the water gutter right next to the road. And the beauty of the camouflage was that potentially 20-30 pairs of eyes missed it...
We sat there watching it while it gazed back, yawned, rolled and then finally left... We were the only vehicle there and had this amazing and exclusive sighting of the beautiful leopard up close..
