Having traversed the London metro, I must say the Paris Metro is quite similar and hence was less daunting to navigate compared to the Russian metro. Guide to Paris Metro is a dummies guide to Paris metro containing information about Paris metro Map, Paris Viste pass and also train from Paris to Brussels.
The Paris Metro is made up of approximately 300 stations and running 16 lines numbered 1-14 and then 2 secondary lines 3b and 7b. All the lines are color coded as well. The Metro has the universal sign – ‘M’ – which can be easily found.

The Paris Metro runs from roughly 05:30 till 00:40 (5:30am – 12:40am) Sunday through Thursday and 05:30 – 01:40 on Fridays, Saturdays and on days before a holiday. Frequency between most trains range from 2 minutes during rush hour up to 8-10 minutes during off hours, holidays, and Sundays.
There are a wide variety of tickets available including single ride tickets, books of 10 or 20, single day passes, multi-day passes, Monday to Sunday week passes, monthly passes and year passes. We opted for the Paris Visite Pass which is available in 3 zone or 5 zone option for 1,2,3 or 5 day lengths. We choose Zone 1-3 visite pass for 2 days which allows unlimited travel on bus, metro, tramway and RER network. The Visite pass cost 11.15Euro per day or 18.15 Euro for 2 days.
It was really economical to travel using the metro – again quick, cheap and seeing the underground world which has the same hustle bustle as the unique city above it.
We had our onward journey to Brussels. The best option to travel from Paris to Brussels is to use the train – it just takes 1hr 20 mins. You can book tickets for the train here – Click here and it costs approx. 30Euros for a comfortable journey.
Trains depart from Paris Nord station on metro line 4 or 5. You can get down at Barbès – Rochechouart and walk to Gare du Nord.
